Takes one to know one

Cast your minds back to not even 2 years ago…Commonwealth Games…Delhi…October 2010…ring a vague bell ?

Surely you remember ? All that world class sport and lasting sports legacy we were going to get blah blah…Yes, sorry, you’re absolutely right, I really shouldn’t be so mean-spirited, should I ?

I mean, for goodness sake, just look at the first major test of Indian athletes after the Games.

Currently, after a week of the London Olympics, India has 1 bronze medal.

One.

Anyway, the repercussions of those CWG still rumble on.

Gosh, I am so relieved about that nice Mr. Kalmadi

So it seems, prima facie, that Mr.Kalmadi may not have dementia after all.

I am genuinely happy for him (see my earlier blog post this morning, if you think I am being ironic). I know too much about dementia to wish it even on anyone. Really.

So now I await his trial for corruption with unabashed excitement.

So this is how he is going to try and evade justice, is it ?

Wriggle out on a plea of dementia ?

Mr. Kalmadi, let me tell you one thing, fair and square.

My poor, late father had senile dementia, and I would not wish that on my worst enemy.

I don’t know if you are aware of exactly how degrading and sad it all is, nor how much strain it puts on your nearest and dearest.

Money laundering. Conspiracy. Corruption. Commonwealth Games

Conspiracy.

Corruption.

Money laundering.

Jeepers, the rhetoric has become strident all of a sudden.

Mr. Kalmadi would appear to be under attack from all sides.

I don’t for one moment think that he was the only inefficient/corrupt/dishonest (choose your adjective) person in the Games Organising Committe, and so to be honest, I am amazed that he hasn’t started singing yet.

This is almost only the beginning of a long saga.
