There was no more nor less amplification than this, but it seems worth sharing with you. 411 lions in a well-defined area. Shouldn’t be too difficult to monitor & keep tabs on them, then ?

This is a real shocker. If I understand the article below correctly, you can poach away to your heart’s content & the worst you will get is 6 measly years. Just look at the damage this man (a serial offender, to boot) has done to Indian wildlife, and you want to weep.

You really couldn’t make this stuff up, if you tried. India is going to start a captive breeding programme for zebras ? Why, for heavens’ sake ? They are not endangered (despite the claim in the article), whereas much of India’s own endemic wildlife is – think tiger, perhaps ? So why spend money on zebras ? Don’t get me wrong, I adore zebras. They are, along with giraffes, my fave African animal. Those of you who knew our home in Jo’burg will remember the zebras at the bottom of our garden, in the nature reserve.
