After just two months of blogging – cue for you all to mutter something along the lines of “Only two months, and yet how addicted we have become to this blog” – yes, so, anyway, just two months into my blogging careeer, and I am beginning to know what interests and amuses you all.
Pink fairy lights for one.
Thanks for your feedback on the aforementioned lights. I entrusted daughter dearest to go to Khan Market this evening and buy them for me, but she failed in her mission, so I will swing by tomorrow on the way back from church, and hope they are open on a Sunday.
I left you last night to go off to a wedding reception. Gorgeous evening. Gorgeous clothes and jewellery. Gorgeous farmhouse. Another bout of highly contagious FHE – farm house envy. Two outbreaks in as many days.
It was a beautiful winter’s day today in Delhi, and as the house still reeks, I indulged in my new-found avatar of shopper extraordinaire. I took Christina to Shahpurjat, to meet Sonam. Masala tea and beautiful clothes – what better way to while away a couple of hours ?
On the way back, I had An Incident. A UP police lorry scraped past my car – overtaking on the left, though admittedly in heavy traffic - and broke off my wing-mirror. I am not your self-style Intrepid Blogger for nothing. Out I hopped, mobile phone on camera mode, and shouted up at the cop driving the lorry. It was in Hindi, but along the lines of “Oi, you, you just broke my wing mirror.” His reply ? “I didn’t do anything,” and off he drove.
Big mistake.
A sort of photographic cat and mouse chase ensued – in as much as Delhi traffic allows that - and I took as many photos as I could – number plate, driver’s face, writing on side of lorry – you get the picture. Sadly I couldn’t drive and figure out how to switch phone onto video mode at the same time, otherwise I would have telling footage of said lorry breaking all kinds of driving rules.
Now this is where you all come in. I need input from my Delhi readers. What do I do ? Forget it ? Send a bill to Mayawati ?
Himmat says to drop it, ‘cos I will only end up with vindictive cops after me, but I feel as though I should stand up for my rights – or at least for my repair bill. I await your comments with interest…
For once, I read something in the morning papers that made me happy and which I think is an excellent idea.

Lets hope this really does happen.
Remember my storm in an ice-cream scoop story yesterday, about the rather daft ad from Haagen Dazs ? Well, the story rumbles on, but just remember, you read it here first.
I have a lovely word of the day for you - well it’s a phrase actually. There are people in town this weekend checking on the progress of the preparations for the Commonwealth Games.

Early dilly-dallying notwithstanding. I love it. So, my dilly-dallying notwithstanding, here is my photo of the day, of a little girl who is already in touch with her inner bling :
Oh - nearly forgot – today’s PC Christmas Carol is “While Shepherds Watched”, with thanks to Joanne.
“While Shepherds Watched
Their flocks by night
All seated on the ground
The angel of the Lord came down
And glory shone around”
The Union of Shepherds has complained that it breaches Health and Safety regulations to insist that shepherds watch their flocks without appropriate seating arrangements being provided, therefore benches, stools and orthopeaedic chairs are now available. Shepherds have also requested that due to the inclement weather conditions at this time of year that they should watch their flocks via cctv cameras from centrally heated shepherd observation huts.
Please note, the angel of the lord is reminded that before shining his / her glory all around she / he must ascertain that all shepherds have been issued with glasses capable of filtering out the harmful effects of UVA, UVB and the overwhelming effects of Glory.

i share your annoyance about the mirror, pemberton, but sadly i have to agree with Himmat on this
. not worth the angst to try and go up against a system which allows such lorries to operate in the first place! xoxo
It’s not right, it’s not fair, it makes the blood boil but I think pursuing the case might end up costing a lot more than a wing mirror. It would keep your blog readers on the edge of their seats tis true but the angst to you not worth it! CatX
christine, you just cant give up….get em scum and also get masala for more blogs as you chase them down..
