“Breathe. Be zen. Calm down,” I muttered pointlessly to myself this afternoon, when I discovered that my all-singing, all-dancing mobile had somehow re-set itself to its factory settings.
ie blank.
Not a good afternoon. My language wasn’t very good either.
The rest of the day has been spent packing & tackling all the last minute Stuff that always seems to happen pre-departure. We leave tomorrow for a week in Dubai, and are no doubt seriously exhausting our stock of goodwill with the ever hospitable Kumud and Gautam. I am having my knees operated on the 3rd, by another of Himmat’s Dosco batch, Deepak Bhatia. So, along with my camera, my laptop, and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, I have also packed my MRI scans and my crutches – seriously, we have a pair of crutches that have travelled the world with us - they were first used by Himmat when he broke his leg way back in 1994.
So, once again, Delhi Diary is going global. I may even be devoted and blog from hospital.
Or not, depending on my pain threshold.
So, what are my closing snippets from India ?
After yet another rape in Goa - a 9 year old child this time – look what the Goa governement has come up with, as a reaction :
But the undoubted story with real potential is this. (Ghaziabad is a satellite town, just over the border from Delhi) :
Brilliant stuff. Gives a whole new meaning to governement spinning another yarn…
OK, that’s it. Next blog, inshallah, from the Sen Gupta household tomorrow.
Oh. Defining Delhi image for the next week ? Well, as I will be trawling malls in Dubai, I thought a touch of Delhi shopping might be in order. Shahpurjat yesterday.

Hope the knee op goes well! Enjoy the morphine!
Mum is due to have hers replaced at some point soon-ish, when she’s back in the UK; hoping it happens sooner rather than later.
Hope it all goes well with the knees and that you are back on your feet soon! Love Jo
Hope all goes well with your knee op.
