Halloween and sharia

Lovely weather and lovely daughter with me, so off we went to be tourists this afternoon.  Such fun.

Green Park, St. James’ Park, Horse Guards, Trafalgar Square -  we wandered around, surrounded by tourists of every language and hue. We saw 2 old Chelsea Pensioners, hamming it up for the tourists like the seasoned pros they so obviously are.

I duly photographed the Horse Guards : one of them smiled very obviously at Anjulie – hmm, so much for the phlegmatic, stoic English.

As we approached Trafalgar Square, there was raucous chanting from a crowd of young men outside a pub.  Obviously football supporters, I thought, until I saw their banners  “Say no to sharia law.”  Quite odd.

The other very odd thing is all the hullabaloo about Halloween. Since when did Halloween become such a big thing here in England ?  Children dressed up as witches etc. is one thing, but the number of adults wandering around London in all kinds of weird and wonderful outfits, complete with face paint, was – well – odd.

Now, talking about weird and wonderful, feast your eyes on the story below, which I think is just fabulous.  Truly eccentric :Fayed
