Now I am fully aware that this blog is far from perfect (pause for resounding chorus of cyber-denials. Thank you, thank you) but I am reasonably happy with it for the moment, so today I took the plunge and went back to a long-shelved project.

I have been slacking off quite shamelessly, I admit it. Since we arrived in sun-drenched Europe on Friday, it’s been non-stop. Sun+friends+family+deep blue skies (quite odd for England)+far too much socialising. And the blog has been the first victim of all this fun and frivolity, I am the first to admit it.
I feel a quick round-up is the least I can do.
We had a wonderful 3 days in London, where we stayed with Liz in hot, tropical Ealing. My godson Rupert was there, which was a treat, as he heads off next week for his year abroad. [...]

Another hot Delhi day is winding down, in the usual pre-departure flurry of packing, searching for errant cables and batteries, and mutual recriminations of the “No, you had it last, so you must know where it is” variety. We leave early tomorrow for London, via Dubai, staying with Liz.
We are off to the polo in Windsor on Saturday. It’s the annual Asia Cup match, England vs India, and since Abhimanyu is in the team, no prizes for guessing whom we will be cheering. In fact, 3 of the 4 are young men from JPG - Himmat and Om [...]

I begin today’s blog with a heartening story. My sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Michael, are here on holiday. Last Monday, Michael lost his credit card. He was 99% sure that it wasn’t pinched, but that he had inadvertently dropped it in a taxi. So, the credit card was duly stopped, replacement cards ordered, and off they went on their travels to Madhya Pradesh.
Cut to this morning, when they went to C Block Market, to get a taxi to Khan Market. A man walks up to them, and hands Michael his credit card.
