One of the really good things about summer in India is the availability and profusion of mangoes, which are absolutely delicious at the moment.
The story below caught my eye. Usually, all things cricket sell here, but strangely enough a new variety, named after the wildly popular Sachin Tendulkar is not making such a hit as hoped.
I think I shall go and try and track one down, in the interests of fully-rounded blogging.

The patience of a saint.
That’s what is needed to survive Delhi at the moment. With temperatures well over 40 degrees Celsius every day, and constant power-cuts, my usual office routine of internet/scanning/printing has gone for a six. Combine that with our increasingly erratic internet connection, add in a soupcon of burnt out sockets, and you might just get some sort of inkling into what things are like here.
The morning’s papers said that it was 42.3 in Delhi yesterday, while simultaneously saying the hottest temperature in Delhi was 44 degrees on the Ridge, so I guess their brain [...]

Today began very, very early, even by my standards.
Tifi, our over-weight Garfield look-a-like, decided to wake me up at 4.45 am. So I had coffee on the terrace, in the dark, listening to the really early birds beginning to wake up, & being simultaneously chomped by mosquitoes. Quite odd. Tifi, of course, promptly went back to sleep.

So the first day of the last week of spring has been gorgeous.
Sunny, warm, flowers in bloom, a distinctly relaxed feel wherever we went – all of this tinged with the knowledge that this time next week, when it’s Holi, the heat will officially begin.
