Snipped hair and zeitgeist

I dropped Anjulie at the airport last night for her flight to Dubai and onto London, and, feeling so very downcast and sad as I always do when my children are not within hugging distance, I headed back to Vasant Vihar and a lovely dinner with Carine.

Carine sweetly took me out for a fabulous dinner to cheer me up, at that smart fusion restaurant in Emporio, “Zest”.  No, wait, hang on, it’s changed its name since I was last there, and is now called “Setz”.

Gotta love India.

The food was superb, and the wine waiter beyond cool.  [...]

Upgradation, deconcretization & a good old fashioned rant

So, in almost as many days, it is Technology 2 Christine 0.

The blog went off air for the last 2 days, but Himmat, bless him, damaged controlled from Chhachhrauli.  Sitting on the farm, using his trusty old BSNL mobile, he called the people who host my website in Colorado , and sorted out the problem for me.  Technology is quite amazing (when it works). So, sighs of relief all round, and here I am again, blogging from sunny, summery-feeling Delhi.

A wet and wintery welcome

We were late landing in Delhi last night because of the weather – high winds and totally unseasonal, heavy rain delayed several flights, so we were in a big traffic jam in the sky. This was all too soon replaced by a massive traffic jam on the road.  As a welcome back, it really wasn’t up to much.  Delhi at its absolute noisiest, traffic-y worst.

Absolutely blingtastic

We have just collapsed back at Kumud and Gautam’s, exhausted from a day of serious mall trawling – no, wait – a day of physiotherapy.

Health bulletin first. Went for a check up with Deepak, who gave me the all-clear, as well as an injection in each knee cap.  He says it’s the medical equivalent of WD40.

Then we walked up and down mile upon mile of luxury and wealth and bling and yet more bling, in the Dubai Mall.  We kept discovering more and more sections of the mall – I must remember to check exactly how huge [...]
