Ridiculous rules about pets

Those of you who know me well, know that I am daft as a brush as far as my dogs and cats are concerned – well, if schlepping 3 stray dogs and 4 stray cats (at vast expense) from Mauritius to South Africa, and then from SA here to India counts for anything…

I love my pets enormously, I look after them.  In other words, I am a keen animal lover.  Can’t tolerate any form of cruelty to animals.  Can’t abide hunting.  Ditto bull-fighting.  You get the picture.

Rampant leopard poaching

Will just asked in a post whether there was any news about leopards here, and so I offer him this sobering piece of news.

I know, I know, India has a myriad issues to solve, but this is shocking.  The country’s wildlife authorities just have to wake up.  Train guards and rangers.  Make poaching a serious offence, and prosecute till the poachers stop.

Also great news that there is a new sport, in which I am confident India will excel :

Losing a shirt in the heat

Today began very, very early, even by my standards.

Tifi, our over-weight Garfield look-a-like, decided to wake me up at 4.45 am.  So I had coffee on the terrace, in the dark, listening to the really early birds beginning to wake up, & being simultaneously chomped by mosquitoes.  Quite odd.  Tifi, of course, promptly went back to sleep.
