BIG EXCITEMENT in downtown Vasant Vihar this morning, when 2 tickets for the Opening Ceremonies finally arrived. 2 more are still to come, but my faith and hope and trust in the Games has instantly been restored.
As regular readers of this blog will remember, I had ordered 4 tickets via a mobile-phone-internet connection, from our tent in the Kruger Park, way back in June. And almost 3 months to the day, lo and behold. 2/4 tickets are here.
Mr. Kalmadi can breathe easy. We will be there.

I have so misunderstood these Games.
It’s not about the sport, silly, it’s about corruption – no, hang on, scratch that - it’s all about shopping.
And mega-events.
And a camping site in the middle of the city.
Read on, it is all wildly exciting stuff :
Whew, and there was silly old me planning on going to watch lawn bowls, or archery, and dragging my poor long-suffering sister Jane with me. Instead, now we can go to Gurgaon, and sit in an A/C tent with an LCD TV.

My day has been dominated by the discovery of yet another termite trail outside my office. We are having major phone and internet re-wiring done, which involves moving furniture to access the phone sockets, which in turn leads to all kinds of unpleasant discoveries.
And so the ayurvedic-termite-treatment-wala will come again tomorrow, but I am getting increasingly sceptical, and think we should just nuke them. Enough of this touchy-feely kindness.
