We have just collapsed back at Kumud and Gautam’s, exhausted from a day of serious mall trawling – no, wait – a day of physiotherapy.
Health bulletin first. Went for a check up with Deepak, who gave me the all-clear, as well as an injection in each knee cap. He says it’s the medical equivalent of WD40.
Then we walked up and down mile upon mile of luxury and wealth and bling and yet more bling, in the Dubai Mall. We kept discovering more and more sections of the mall – I must remember to check exactly how huge [...]

Good morning from sunny Dubai - well, to be honest, it’s not actaully that sunny - sort of vaguely sunny. We are off for a first consultation with the surgeon at lunchtime, and then, inshallah, my knees will be as right as rain tomorrow.
Yesterday we went for an eye-opening walk along Jumeriah Beach Road?/Walk ? Suffice it to say, that we looked like gawping villagers.
The last time we were in that part of Dubai must have been 18 years ago – 19 perhaps – when there were a couple of hotels and absolutely nothing else. We were [...]
