Salut de Paris

I have been slacking off quite shamelessly, I admit it.  Since we arrived in sun-drenched Europe on Friday, it’s been non-stop.  Sun+friends+family+deep blue skies (quite odd for England)+far too much socialising.  And the blog has been the first victim of all this fun and frivolity, I am the first to admit it.

I feel a quick round-up is the least I can do.

We had a wonderful 3 days in London, where we stayed with Liz in hot, tropical Ealing.  My godson Rupert was there, which was a treat, as he heads off next week for his year abroad.  [...]

Snipped hair and zeitgeist

I dropped Anjulie at the airport last night for her flight to Dubai and onto London, and, feeling so very downcast and sad as I always do when my children are not within hugging distance, I headed back to Vasant Vihar and a lovely dinner with Carine.

Carine sweetly took me out for a fabulous dinner to cheer me up, at that smart fusion restaurant in Emporio, “Zest”.  No, wait, hang on, it’s changed its name since I was last there, and is now called “Setz”.

Gotta love India.

Gambling and girls

I have spent today resolutely trying to ignore the all-too-obvious signs of departure in the house.  Himmat and Hari are off to South Africa tonight – well, the early hours of tomorrow morning -  and although Himmat will be back in 2-3 weeks, Hari goes onto sit his finals from Exeter, and to move out of his house, and settle into the next phase of his life.  Scary stuff for a mother hen like me.

The other thing I have been trying (and failing) to ignore all day are the power-cuts.  The hotter Delhi gets, the more power cuts [...]

Chocolate and odd behaviour

I hope your Easter Sunday has been as lovely as mine – Hari arrived this morning from London, exhausted, sleepy, but bringing chocolate.  What more could I ask ?

Apart from a long, complicated saga getting to Mass this morning, which involved 2 churches and getting up an hour earlier than necessary, the day has been lazy and at home.  It has been a fairly quiet day news-wise.  Interestingly enough, the three stories I want to share with you today are all connected with women, in varying avatars…
