Of peeling roads and a good read

The rain it sure did rain on Delhi today.  For once the met office was spot on, and we had the accurately predicted huge monsoon downpour most of the day.  And the city ground to a virtual halt as a result, with water-logging and colossal traffic jams.  Tell me about it, as I had to go out twice today, so had lots and lots of time, stuck in the traffic, to contemplate the civic mess.

Coffeehouse loos & a chic-o-meter

It’s been a busy 2 days.

Lots of rain, thank the good Lord, but also lots and lots of leaks.

Yesterday afternoon’s downpour wreaked havoc in the garden – don’t miss all that top-soil, “imported” from Chhachhrauli going literally down the drain.

The door out onto the roof instantly sprung a leak, so Yoda happily treated herself to an impromptu drink :

Of heat and a little old banger

Since we got back to Delhi, it has been 2 days of trying not to be knocked sideways by the heat, of unpacking, sorting out, catching up and of preparing for our trip to England and France at the end of this week.

We also have a new addition to the family.

Himmat’s MG, in which he used to swan around Bombay in his pre-me days, was trucked up from what is now Mumbai, and arrived late last night.

Trucks are only allowed to drive into Delhi after 9 o’clock at night, so it was about 10.15 pm when [...]

GPS for tuk tuks

Yet another day hunched over a hot computer, working on the new, updated blog, which is almost ready to rock and roll.  And yet again, Himmat has done sterling work, figuring out all the html codes and clever technical stuff.

My day began, as usual, at dawn, when I took Yoda off for her morning walk at the club.  The place was jam-packed at 6.30 when I arrived, thanks to the Delhi Horse Show.  Christina and I walked together for a while with our dogs and two of the club dogs in tow, then I peeled off to watch [...]
