Sun and maharajas

London has been absolutely spectacular today. Gorgeous. Beautiful. Deep, deep blue sky, and just such a lovely feel to the day.

Early this morning, we went to see a fabulous exhibition at the V & A, called “Maharaja,” which has stunning royal treasures, mainly from Rajasthan, and most of which, realistically, you could never see in India.  Such as items from the Queen’s collection, for example.

Gorgeous jewels and clothes, stunning courtly painitings, and even a clip of Himmat’s grandfather in an old black and white film. That was quite special.

Lattes and wastepaper bins

Early tomorrow morning, your tireless blogger heads north, up to Leamington Spa – oh, sorry, Royal Leamington Spa -which is where daughter dearest is living this year.  I’m not sure I’ve ever been there, so am looking forward to it.

Concluding thoughts about London ?  It’s fun being back, but I have sort of lost some of my cultural and societal bearings.

For example.

Standing at Ealing Broadway Tube station this morning, and there, on the platform is a Costas Coffee outlet.  The young lady behind me in the queue asked for “a skinny wet latte.”  Um, What ?  [...]
