And why ever not?

This tantalising little gem was in my Sunday paper in Goa.

The use of the word “attempted” left the story inconclusive. Had almost an ominous sound to it.

Did he succeed?

How long did it take him to cycle 100km like this?

So, I googled it. As one does.

And he made it!

Azad Singh has, and I quote, “set a new record in the Limca Book of Records for cycling the farthest distance with a bottle of water balanced on his head.”

Utterly fab stuff.

The law is an ass. Or perhaps a crocodile

Said it before. Saying it again. Never a dull moment in India, my friends.

And, by the way, is “forester” a real word? If not, it is now.

Yikes! All ye fraudsters and forgers take beware!

Now I’m all for letting the punishment fit the crime, but all the same…

Since there has been nothing further in the papers refuting this story/opinion – but to be fair, follow-up is pretty rare in the India press, as I have noted on many occasions – so, since no-one has shot this legal view-point down, I take it that everyone in Chennai*** (formerly known as Madras) is OK with this?

***Yes, Madras vs Chennai.

The name was changed years ago, but clearly not in the world of the High Court.

From India with love…all 400 million World Cup themed condom’s worth…

Betcha didn’t know India had such an involvement in the ongoing World Cup, now, did you?

Thought not.

I shall gloss over the idea that everything started for Messi in Calcutta – that truly is stretching poetic licence a little too far, methinks – but go ahead, India, knock yourself out claiming a sliver of World Cup glory.
