This is probably the oddest headline you will see today…

What a peculiar story.

And despite the eye-catching headline, it’s also a sad story.

An old man is conned out of his property, that had been given to him by an erstwhile king, by someone who tricks him into signing an adoption deed.

Poor old man. Dying at 101 with no family, no heirs and the knowledge that you have been tricked by a con man.

I googled Mr. Van Ingen (of course I did – all part of the bespoke blogging service, my friends) and discovered that the Van Ingen & Van Ingen taxidermy business was, in its heyday, one of the biggest in the world.

Who knew?

And in a little personal twist – I am currently scanning all my old transparencies, and just yesterday I scanned a batch of photos I’d taken at a taxidermist in Johannesburg, when we lived there.

Haven’t thought about taxidermy for ever (well, you don’t, do you?) and then, voilà, twice in 2 days.
