As I’m sure most of you will know by know, there has been a deadly confrontation in the Himalayas between India and China. It took place along the LAC (Line of Actual Control) in Ladakh and there have been fatalities on both sides.
India first announced that 3 soldiers had been killed, but sadly the numbers were revised upwards to 20. The Chinese suffered similar losses, we are told.
There are all kinds of horrific stories doing the rounds (unconfirmed as yet) about the Chinese soldiers, armed with clubs wrapped in barbed wire, beating the Indian soldiers- dear God, as if death isn’t bad enough, a death like that…
The escalation of tension between these 2 countries is a frightening prospect at the best of times, but now, when we are all worried sick about Coronavirus, it all feels totally overwhelming.
Please God that talks will resolve the situation.
No more fighting, no war, no battle, no skirmish. No more deaths.
Everyone is worried about Covid-19. Isn’t that more than enough for one country?
And poor dear Ladakh…my favourite place in India.
I was supposed to be in Ladakh this summer for A Very Big Adventure. Actually, the plan was for 2 back-to-back Very Big Adventures. It was going to be a smashing, challenging, exciting summer.
Now that I’m no longer training, nor packing my gear, nor planning my exciting adventures, all I’m going to do now is pray that wise counsel prevails, and that this border issue is resolved speedily and without any more men dying.
