Hate to do this to you, folks, but…
…contrary to what I’d shared with you here a few days ago, India will now NOT be re-opening its skies to international flights from December 15th.
Just last night, I had also updated you on stricter new rules for passengers arriving in India and if you remember, I’d highlighted one particular sentence in the government’s announcement, namely:
Well, dear reader, I was prescient.
The government did indeed “review the resumption of scheduled international commercial flights” and the planned resumption ain’t happening.
Here you go. The official announcement:
Thank you, Omicron.
As well as the tightening up of controls on international arrivals from “at risk” countries, there are also new rules for domestic travel, notably in the state of Maharashtra.
This is such a rapidly changing scenario, trying to tackle a rapidly mutating virus, and so we all muddle along, with plans changing every day. I was supposed to be in Hyderabad next weekend, to speak at a conference. But not surprisingly, the event has now been cancelled, because of the new internal travel rules, and all the inherent risks.
We all need to stay hyper-vigilant
But you’re all sensible folk, and know that already, right?
Stay safe, everyone 🙂
