Happy Holi!

Happy Holi!

Today, 8 March, is both the Hindu festival of Holi and also International Womens Day, a day of rampant tokenism, in my humble opinion. I might well do a separate post about IWD, but for now, let’s celebrate Holi, shall we?

This festival of colours is raucously celebrated here in north India, with coloured powder being thrown over people, drums banged, and lots of cannabis-based “bhang” being consumed.

All very jolly , but not my cup of tea, so I stay indoors on Holi to escape the festivities πŸ™‚

Holi also officially makes the start of spring-like weather, but it’s already hotter than usual this year, so my morning paper remarked that this year Holi is more likely to herald the beginning of summer weather…yikes!

Climate change is real, my friends.

So, since I have no photos of coloured power, nor people drenched in colour, I decided you could have a phoolwala ki holi – flower holi – courtesy of my potted plants & my mother-in-law’s garden, all of which are looking mighty colourful these days…before the threatened heat sets in.

Enjoy πŸ™‚

And Holi Mubarak!
