So…here’s the thing.
The weather is absolutely terrible, with masses of snow & a complete whiteout, so our scheduled departure for high camp & a summit attempt tonight has been put on hold.

It’s not just Dzongla (where we have been for 3 nights) & Lobuche that are snowed in.
Lukla, the “hub” for all flights & choppers, is out of action today.
Gombu, one of the lovely Sherpas from my Mera Peak climb in 2019 who is with us again, showed us a livestream from Lukla airport where nothing was happening.
As in nothing.
All the choppers lined up.
Tarmac empty.
Basically, not much is moving in the valley. All bets are off for the summit, and everything is in the hands of the weather gods, so there’s absolutely no point fretting. We have a roof over our heads, we have WiFi, though charging gadgets is a bit of a problem. Because of the weather, the teahouse doesn’t have the capacity to charge power banks anymore, & the solar charger I bought is clearly of no use, but hey! At least we’ve got hot chocolate & WiFi…for now…

I’ll keep you posted.
Stay warm and well Christine!
