70 years ago today, the first people stood on the summit of Mount Everest.
I saw Everest – from a distance – only a couple of weeks ago, first on our approach trek to Lobuche East, and the thrill of seeing this mountain never disappoints.
I was then even more blessed, being lucky enough to see Everest from the summit of Lobuche (6119m) as I clung precariously to my team mates – the summit was s-m-a-l-l 🙂
I have no illusions about my own very limited mountaineering skills, so will always have to enjoy the beauty of the higher peaks from afar.
But there truly is such beauty in the mountains 🙂
