Of Delhi traffic and politics

I wonder if anyone has done a study to determine if the niceness of any given population equals cavalier treatment by their government.   Sitting, yet again, in the mother of all traffic jams in South Delhi,  I couldn’t help thinking that if Indians weren’t so nice and easy going and ready to put up with things, there would be carnage out there.

The papers here are full of nothing but the upcoming Indian general elections, and the trials and relations of trying to get the IPL cricket schedule to fit in with increased security concerns.  I can’t understand why they don’t have the cricket during the winter in any case, when the weather is lovely as opposed to the searing heat of April and May.
